Preamble

The Youth Red Cross Society aims to serve people under distress without any consideration of caste, religion, language and nationality. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, co-operation and peace amongst all people. The Fundamental Principles of Red Cross Movement are Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary service, Unity and Universality.

Objectives:

  • To motivate the volunteers to train and develop leadership quality and over all personality improvement by organizing and participating in the various activities
  • To promote hygienic lifestyles by enhancing their health and personal care
  • To educate the population on emergency relief services for the victims of disasters and mitigation of their suffering
  • To promote the Fundamental Principles of the Movement and the International Humanitarian Law in order to inculcate humanitarian ideals among the population, in particular among children and youth.
  • To recruit, train and develop volunteers for undertaking humanitarian responsibilities
  • To conduct programmes like rain Water harvesting, recycling the waste, maintenance of compost pits and green house to initiate eco-friendly surroundings in the college premises
  • To organize special lectures on Hygiene and Health

Objectives

As per the CDC recommendations Green Society has been introduced in addition to NCC, NSS, Physical Education, YRC under Part V Extension activity of Course content and scheme of examination for 2013 – 14 onwards. The Green Society syllabus was approved by Botany Board of Studies meeting held on 09.03.2013.

CITIZEN CONSUMER CLUB (CCC)

The Citizen Consumer Club of Vellalar College for Women (Autonomous) is affiliated to the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Center, Government of Tamil Nadu, which was established on 4th September during the academic year 2004-2005. The club has evolved its own objectives in aligning to achieve the common goal of the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Center, Government of TamilNadu.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL (EDC)

Entrepreneurship is a key pillar to upkeep the country’s economic growth and development, employment prospects and innovation. The Entrepreneurship Development Cell aims to support by providing a platform for identifying business opportunities and to inculcate a culture of innovation driven entrepreneurship among the young aspirants. It motivates its student members to become successful entrepreneurs through its training programs and activities. It nurture the talents of youth by sensitizing them on various aspects of industrial activities.

OBJECTIVES

  • To trigger the Entrepreneurial instinct in the students.
  • To hone and train the students in the Entrepreneurial skills.
  • To impact basic managerial skills and understandings in order to run the business efficiently.
  • To make the students realize the significance of opting as a career option.

Objectives

    Objective

    As per the UGC guidelines the “Career and Counseling Cell” of our college support to its students makes them confident to perform better. The objective is to support the students in the development of soft skills and communication ability to challenge the rigors of competitive tests. Informing, Educating, Facilitating and Supporting Career focused student development activities through Seminars and Workshops. Give counseling to the needy students on personality development related and academic related issues and extending the Career Guidance Activities.

    Activities

    2018-19

    • The Career and Counseling Cell has organized a programme on “Step into success by Developing Self-Esteem” on 31.08.2018. Ms. R. Indira, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce(CA), Kongu Arts and Science College, Karur acted as Resource Person. The narration of her own experiences by the resource person laid a living example for the students and enriched the programme with liveliness.
    • Career and Counseling Cell organized a programme on “An Intro Tnpsc Aspirants” on 19.09.2018.The session was taken over by the Chief Guest Mr. K. P. Durai Murugan, Coordinator & Trainer of TNPSC Exam, Vellalar IAS Academy with the participation of nearly 100 students of both UG & PG.
    • The Cell has organized a programme on 08.02.2019 the Resource Person Ms. A. Palaniappan, D.E.E., B. Lit, M.A., Senior Signals & Telecommunication Engineer, Sothern Railway (Retd.) Chennai, made an excellent speech on “Top Career for Women Graduates”.
    • The Career and Counseling Cell organized a workshop on “High way to Higher Education” on 07. 03.2019. Ms. Pavithra Rajesh, Students counselor, Education matters, Erode was the resource person. Nearly 120 students were beneficiary.

    2019-20

    • Career and Counseling Cell of our college conducted “Wheebox National Eligibility Test (WNET)” at our college campus for all pre – final and final year graduates on 30.10.2019 and 31.10.2019 to identify core strengths and improvement areas of our students.
    • Seminar on “ Career Around the World ” by Ms. Kavibharathi, Ms. Dhavapriya, Team Leader and Ms. Vasumathi, HR Executive, Adroid Technologies, IBM Partner, Coimbatore on 02.12.2019
    • Seminar on “Key Success – Unlock Your Potential” by Mr. Udayakumar, Head General, Ms. Archana, Team Leader, Ms. Shabhashini S/W Tech Instructor, Mr. Vishnuraj S/W Tech Instructor, Adroid Technologies, IBM Partner, Coimbatore on 03.12.2019
