Activities 2019-2020
The Parent – Teacher Association, as an registered body (Doc. No. 196/BK IV/2019 dated 23.10.2019) was inaugurated on 05.03.2020 with the motive to foster and promote good relationship among the members of the teaching staff, students and parent / guardians of the students. It also aims to promote culture and build up character, self confidence, motivational skills, amongst public at large, and more particularly amongst students and younger generation. The meeting was inaugurated by Thiru.S.D.Chandrasekar, Secretary and Correspondent, Vellalar Educational Trust, Erode. Dr.N.Sabitha, Secretary – PTA and Associate Professor and Head, Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, Vellalar College for Women welcomed the gathering and explained the goals and future plans of the Association. Dr.N.Maragatham, Principal, Vellalar College for Women, offered her felicitation. The parents had a vibrant discussion and offered suggestions for effective and efficient functioning of the association. Dr.S.Vishnuvarthani, Treasurer- PTA, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Commerce (PA) proposed vote of
thanks.
To impart awareness among people and to give mental strength to fight against Corona Virus, a community development programme was organized on 24.04.2020. Dr.J.Jayaprakash, Consultant Psychiatrist, Director, Manathin Mayam, Erode spoke on the topic “Mental Health and Well-being during the Covid 19 Pandemic”. He explained the need of self protection towards corona virus and motivated the students and parents by explaining the ways to overcome the pandemic. 196 were benefitted through this programme.
In order to have regular follow up of academic performance and overall development of the students, Parent- Teacher Meeting was conducted by all the departments during each semester. The rules and regulations, methodologies of teaching and learning and the progress of the students in the academics and other extra curricular activities were discussed. The parents were encouraged to appreciate student’s participation in all academic activities.
