ICT-e-LRC
About

The centre “ICT-e-LRC” was established on 01/07/2018.

ICT-e- LRC Co-ordinators:

  • Ms. K. Kiruthika, Assistant Professor of IT&CT UG

Objectives

Transformation of education through adoption of Information and communication tools and e-Learning & Teaching practices through.
  • Adopting various e- learning resources available in Digital space
  • Giving credit transfer for SWAYAM courses
  • Producing (Short Learning Modules) LMS and content creation for MOOCs
Activities
  • Enrollment in NPTEL, SWAYAM and Spoken Tutorials courses and registering for online examination.
  • Conduct of FDP for SWAYAM MOOCs
  • Promoting content creation for MOOCs
  • Credit transfer to the students undergoing MOOCs
  • Linking of LMS (Camtesia, Subject Gateway, Video Tutorials)
  • Collaborative interface with ICT Academy
Current Events
  • Enrollment of NPTEL courses
  • Registering for SWAYAM courses
  • Under going Training and appearing for online examination in SPOKEN TUTORIALS.
Reports
  • NPTEL online course July – October 2018 enrollment was done from the month of July 2018. 885 students and 12 faculty members have enrolled for NPTEL courses and 475 students and 12 faculty members have appeared for the examination commenced on 7th October and 28th October 2018. Out of this 312 students and 12 faculty members successfully completed the course. We feel proud to announce that one of our student R.Smiruthi of II M.Sc Computer Science and Dr.S.Mohanasundhari, Assistant Professor of English have got Gold Certificate and 110 students and faculty members got Elite Certificate. Dr.S.Akila and V.Priya Assistant Professors of Computer Science have got Best Performing Mentor for the course ‘The Joy of Programming using Python’. We are happy to announce that our college stands in the 31st place out of 100 Active local Chapters during the period from July-October 2018 and we are awarded as ‘Best Certified Count Improvement’ by NPTEL.
  • I Year UG Students have seen the telecast related to their subjects through Swayam Prabha DTH channels. II Year UG Students have enrolled for the SWAYAM courses. III Year UG Students have undergone training for Spoken Tutorial courses and assignment has been given for I Year PG Students through e-Pathshala. All II Year PG students have enrolled for NPTEL courses.
  • The Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science have implementing credit transfer (5 credits) for spoken tutorial courses offered by IIT Bombay as self study papers.
  • To promote cashless transaction among people, an awareness programme was conducted at the NSS camp village Kalyanipuram on 14.08.201 Dr. N. Senthilkumaran, Director, Master of Computer Applications, Vellalar College for Women, delivered a talk on “Digital Economy” among our students and villagers in the camp site.
  • Dr.N.Maragatham, Principal, Vellalar College for Women and Dr. S.K.Kavitha, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Chemistry, Vellalar College for Women, have attended SWAYAM workshop at Maulana Azad University, Hyderabad on 31st August 2018.
  • A Faculty Development Programme has been organised by ICT -e- LRC jointly with IQAC on “Adoption, Promotion and Production of MOOCs on SWAYAM Platform” on 29.10.2018. Dr.E.S.Samundeeswari, Associate Professor of Computer Science delivered a talk on “E-Content Development”. Dr.G.Thamizhendhi, Assistant Professor and Head of Mathematics (SF) served as another resource person and delivered talk on ‘Introduction to Open Educational Resources’. 66 faculty members participated and benefited out of this programme. 8 faculty members have attended FDP organized by ICT Academy.
  • All ICT-e-LRC members participated in the Faclty Development Programme on “Digital Tools for Teaching” organised by IQAC of our college on 08.03.2019.
  • Initiative towards credit transfer for UGC MOOCs in the Curriculum has been taken and rules have been framed and the same has been approved by the Board of Studies during this academic year. All UG & PG Students joining from 2019-2020 onwards will follow this amendment.
  • A Faculty Development Programme has been organised by ICT -e- LRC jointly with ICT Acadamy on “Introduction to Python Programming” on 26.06.2019 & 27.06.2019. Mr. Dineshkumar Gandhi, Senior Trainer, ICT Academy,Chennai acted as Resource Person. 40 faculty members participated and benefited out of this programme. 6 faculty members have attended FDP organized by ICT Academy.
  • Employability Skill Training program in Financial Literacy was organized jointly with Reliance Home Finance and ICT Academy from 97h August to 19th September for 25 days in our campus. Dr.P. Hemalatha, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics acted as co-ordinator. 43 final year students from commerce stream benefited out of it. At the end of the course they have attended online examinations and the results are to be announced shortly.

As a part of e-content resources creation, Multimedia Learning Materials (MLM), Subject Gateway(Links for pdf files and video contents) and Video tutorials have been developed by our faculty members of various disciplines and are available with ICT-e-LRC. Students can contact the ICT-e-LRC co-ordinators and can access the materials available for their subject references.
