About

Youth are the future architect of India, on whose shoulders lies the responsibility of conserving all that is best in the country. For this , there was a need to strengthen a system of value education that would foster universal and eternal values, oriented towards the unity and integration of the country, and help to eliminate violence, fanaticism and fatalism, value oriented education will go a long way in inculcating in the youth a spirit of service, nationalism and patriotism.

NCC in our College

The year 1979-80 has been a memorable year with the introduction of NCC for women students in our college. The activities of the first platoon of 50 NCC cadets were inaugurated on 7th September 1979 by Major P.C.Karumbaiah, Officer Commanding, 5 TamilNadu Girls Battalion NCC, Coimbatore.

  • Selvi M.Ratnabai, Physical Directress, took charge of NCC from December 79 after attending Pre-Commission in Gwalior
  • Lt.R.Parvathi, was the NCC Officer from October 2001 to May 2005
  • Dr.J.Suguna, Associate Professor of Computer Science was the Care taker from may 2005 to June 2006
  • Capt. N.Kavitha, took charge as Company Commander from July 2006 onwards.

Till the year 2016-2017 the strength of the cadets was 55.

In the year 2017-2018 the strength of the contingent has been raised to the strength of 104 with two platoons.



Aim

To develop qualities, character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and sportsmanship and the ideals of selfless service among the youth to make them useful citizens.

  • To create a human resource of organised, trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life including the Armed Forces and be always available for the service of the nation.
  • To create a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in Armed Forces.

VCW- NCC Alumnae Association, Erode a registered non-profit committee of Vellalar College for Women, Erode is committed to produce more cadets from VCW towards nation's armed service. Initiated a year ago, a vibrant team of ex-cadets of our college started working for bringing this dream of powerful society to reality. The VCW NCC Alumnae Association aims towards active participation for preparing the present NCC cadets in unique way in all NCC camps and mould them to be successful civil service aspirants. The association also moves energetically for the society's welfare by supporting the youth to face the challenges of day-to-day life in a positive attitude.

Aim

Vellalar College for Women NCC Alumnae Association aims to enhance the strong bonding and empower the society on holding the hands jointly.

Objectives

  1. To act as an association of alumnae of National Cadet Corps (NCC) Sub – Unit of Vellalar College for women (VCW)

  2. To strengthen relationship and increase interaction among Ex-cadets and members of NCC Sub-unit and thus to maximize inter personal relationship between past and present cadets for the purpose of exchange of Knowledge and experience

  3. To motivate the present cadets and recent alumnae with a range of programs and interactions to maximize their contribution to the society in general

  4. To render consultations and / or provide career guidance to the alumnae and cadets to emerge in the field of Armed Forces and in other fields related to their corresponding educational background

  5. To inculcate the values of Social Responsibility, Women Empowerment, Gender Equality, Understanding of Legal Rights, etc., among the alumnae

  6. To support for the educational enlightenment and to provide monetary and non- monetary assistance to the deserving alumnae and the cadets, students in the society for their higher education

  7. To support the needy during the time of natural calamities/ disaster, financially and by any possible means with the involvement of Alumnae members and the Cadets

  8. To enhance, modernize and upgrade the existing facilities at the NCC Sub-Unit with the assistance of the alumane

  9. To arrange field visits, trips and gatherings that may strengthen the relationship among the alumnae members

  10. To establish and empower the discipline within the Association that promotes self-control, respect for others and socially acceptable behaviour, to inculcate and nurture the Leadership qualities that leads to individual and social empowerment

  11. To circulate articles and circulars either through print or electronic media for the promotion or stimulation of the career guidance, educational enlightenment, women empowerment, Go-green& Environmental related activities like Swachh Bharat Mission / Clean India Mission

  12. To encourage educational, cultural, sports and such other activities for fund- raising purposes as Executive Committee may deem fit in furtherance of the objectives

  13. To organize or assist to organize lectures, seminars/ webinars, refresher courses, conferences, get- together, awareness campaigns, rallies and via social media to achieve the afore mentioned objectives



Membership Details

Any Ex-Cadet registered with the NCC Sub-unit of Vellalar College for Women (Autonomous), Erode shall have completed atleast 1 year of service in NCC. The Ex-cadet shall be eligible to apply for the membership of the association upon completion of 3 academic years from the date of enrolment with Vellalar College for Women (Autonomous), Erode. The Ex-Cadet / applicant concerned shall submit any proof of enrolment as may be issued by the Vellalar College for Women (Autonomous), Erode.


Membership Payable Details

Junior Member (Fresher) Rs.500/- for a period of 3 years
Annual Member (Senior) Rs.500/- for a period of 1 year
Silver Member Rs.2250/- for a period of 5 years
Gold Member Rs.3500/- for a period of 10 years
Platinum Member (Honorary Membership)Nil payment with a lifetime membership
