CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT AND SKILLS ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITIES



STUDENT AND STAFF CO-OPERATIVE STORE

Co-Operative Stores Ltd (C- E-5)

To raise the consciousness of the student community on co-operative movement, the department of cooperation reaches out to them by setting up a student and staff co-operative store way back-in 1977. Functioning effectively since then with the active participation and enrollment of the staff and the students. It provides stationary items, notebooks, practical record books, assignment books, text books and the like to the staff and students of the college at nominal price.

  • Authorized Share Capital: Rs: 1,150,00 /-
  • Paidup Share Capital: Rs: 64,710 /-
  • No. of Members: 244.
OBJECTIVES
  • To supply all the stationery items with nominal rate
  • To purchase text books from the publishers and sell them to the student at 10% to 15% discount
  • To facilitate easy accessibility of their requirements
  • To train the students to become an efficient business performer
  • To supply quality and unadulterated goods to the students
  • To purchase fancy items to fulfill the taste and preference of the staff and students
  • To purchase and sell gift articles
  • It serves the office of the controller of examination by supplying stationeries like papers, files, equipments and other materials
  • To receive orders from the management and various departments for conducting meeting

“Best Students Cooperative Stores Award” was received for 10 times.

2003 – 2004 State Level Best Students Cooperative Stores Award

2004 – 2005, 2006 – 2007, 2007 – 2008, 2008 – 2009 and from 2013-14 to 2017-18, District Level Best Students Cooperative Stores Award.

Presently, VCW staff and students cooperative stores Ltd (CE-5) coming under the Tamilnadu Cooperative Societies Act, 1983 and Rule 1988.

Stock verification audit and financial audit is done by the qualified auditors appointed by the co-operative audit department.

PRINTING PRESS

The college houses a hi-tech printing press with the latest printing technologies, state-of- the-art production equipments and machineries catering to a wide range of printing needs of the campus viz-a-viz publications, magazines, books, notes, projects, thesis and packaging.

PHOTOCOPY CENTRE

Besides being the hub of documentation services extended to the staff and the students, the 3 photocopy centers on campus help them with supports that include browsing, printing, photocopying, scanning, lamination, binding, research pursuits etc.

FITNESS CENTRE (GYM)

Exercise in fact is therapeutic. In order to make the campus fraternity within and without, the campus boasts of a fitness centre with centre with 1500 sq.ft. space with leather sheet flooring adds credit to the department. Gym has separate rest rooms with shower facilities. It has been furnished with latest equipments to fulfill the needs of the students and to help them reach the new frontiers of energy and elan in physical fitness.

HEALTH CARE CENTRE

The physical, mental and emotional well being of the campus community is prioritized, towards which the expansion of the already existing health care centre is in the pipeline.

STUDENT COUNSELLING CENTRE

The counselling centre serves to bolster the student emotional and intelligent quotient through warm, cordial and confidential interaction with individual students by psychological experts who help them come out of their academic, emotional and personal pressures there by empowering them to face the challenges – academic and otherwise.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY CENTRE

Equal Opportunity Centre/ Student Counselling Centre was established during 2010-2011 under UGC XI plan merged scheme to provide guidance and counselling in academic, financial, social and psychological facets of the students so as to mould them into holistic individuals, in order to enhance the diversity within the campus. The centre organises several individual and group counseling, sensitization and training sessions, awareness and motivation programmes and mind mapping classes for the students. The following are few of the programmes organized by the centre:

  • The centre organize mind mapping sessions to better analyse, comprehend, synthesize, recall and generate innovative ideas.
  • Gender sensitization programmes
  • Motivation programme for fresher's on “Spread your Wings”
  • Awareness programme on “Explore the Enigmatic you”
  • Programmes on Logic and Creative Thinking, Personality Development, Stress Management, Health & Hygiene and The benefits of Medicinal plants.
  • Faculty programme on “Teaching Effectiveness Drives – A Personality focus”. A book has been released on “Meaning and Purpose of Marriage and Family Systems. ‘Engal Madal Ungaluku’ prepared by the co-ordinator and the present principal Dr.N.Maragatham. Confidentiality and empathetic approach of the centre is found to be highly supportive and beneficial to the students. Psychological and emotional disturbances are reduced to a satisfactory level.

BANKING FACILITY ON CAMPUS

The Bank of Baroda, Thindal Branch, situated within the college premises with core banking network offers personalized attention to the banking needs of the campus fraternity as all the fee, salary and other fiscal transactions are made easier by its services.

CANTEEN

The Campus canteen is a favorite haunt for both vegans, non vegans where food is prepared and several with almost hygiene. A part from meeting out the gastronomic and nutritional requirements of the campus community the canteen serves as the breather for them amidst the recourse of the day with its warm and caring ambiance.

SANITATION

The Campus sanitation is maintained by a surplus number of housekeeping staff who are vigilantly monitored by supervisors. The maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene through services such as garbage collection, waste water disposal etc., is done regularly. Sanitary napkins vending machine and electric incinerators are installed for the hygienic needs of the students.

BEAUTY PARLOUR

The campus beautyparlour helps to groom and enhance the beauty quotient of the staff and the students within and without. It provides the range of services extended by qualified beautician pampering them with high class beauty treatments which include cleanups, facial, whitening, hair treatments, manicure, pedicure and the like. It extends services the campus fraternity needs to look and feel great, with affordable prices.
