PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA)

This Deed of Trust declared and executed on 24 day of October 2019 (Doc. No. 196 /BK IV /2019 dt. 23.10.2019) WHEREAS, the FOUNDER is desirous of creating an Endowment declaring it as a PUBLIC CHARITABLE TRUST for the benefit and upliftment of Students at large by providing education, promoting good relationships among teaching staff and parents.

Activities

Activities 2019-2020

The Parent – Teacher Association, as an registered body (Doc. No. 196/BK IV/2019 dated 23.10.2019) was inaugurated on 05.03.2020 with the motive to foster and promote good relationship among the members of the teaching staff, students and parent / guardians of the students. It also aims to promote culture and build up character, self confidence, motivational skills, amongst public at large, and more particularly amongst students and younger generation. The meeting was inaugurated by Thiru.S.D.Chandrasekar, Secretary and Correspondent, Vellalar Educational Trust, Erode. Dr.N.Sabitha, Secretary – PTA and Associate Professor and Head, Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, Vellalar College for Women welcomed the gathering and explained the goals and future plans of the Association. Dr.N.Maragatham, Principal, Vellalar College for Women, offered her felicitation. The parents had a vibrant discussion and offered suggestions for effective and efficient functioning of the association. Dr.S.Vishnuvarthani, Treasurer- PTA, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Commerce (PA) proposed vote of thanks.

To impart awareness among people and to give mental strength to fight against Corona Virus, a community development programme was organized on 24.04.2020. Dr.J.Jayaprakash, Consultant Psychiatrist, Director, Manathin Mayam, Erode spoke on the topic “Mental Health and Well-being during the Covid 19 Pandemic”. He explained the need of self protection towards corona virus and motivated the students and parents by explaining the ways to overcome the pandemic. 196 were benefitted through this programme.
In order to have regular follow up of academic performance and overall development of the students, Parent- Teacher Meeting was conducted by all the departments during each semester. The rules and regulations, methodologies of teaching and learning and the progress of the students in the academics and other extra curricular activities were discussed. The parents were encouraged to appreciate student’s participation in all academic activities.

Activities

Activities 2020-2021

In a bid to kick start a new academic year, the PTA convened a General Body Meeting on 11th March 2021 at 10.15. a.m. in the VCW conference hall. The meeting commenced with a welcome address by Dr. N. Sabitha, Secretary, PTA. Dr. S. K. Jayanthi, President, PTA & Principal, Vellalar College for Women, briefed the parents with the short note on the college happenings of the academic year 2020 – 2021 and the effective functioning of the college during the pandemic. She ended the speech by acknowledging the parents for their active involvement and vital support. The PTA has charted several programmes to be scheduled during the academic year 2021 – 2022 with a deeper insight on fostering a sense of responsibility and developing self confidence among the students. The parent body enthusiastically expressed their views and opinions with regard to the college goings-on. The meeting reached its end with a vote of thanks.

Owing to the COVID – 19 Pandemic circumstances, the college initiates a number of teaching/ learning methodologies and evaluating processes in such a way to make the students to adopt themselves for the new normal mode of educational scenario. To address the required essentialities of online teaching-learning in education amid the COVID 19 pandemic, the Parent-Teacher Association scheduled a special meeting on 31.05.2021 at 5.00 p.m. through Google Meet Platform. The forum made a discussion on the effective conduct of Digital / Online Education for the students and invited suggestions from all the team members. The PTA members expressed their sincere suggestions for adopting a qualitative approach through digital platforms employing pivotal online tools and the successful implementation of online teaching- learning modes with special attention given to health and mental well being.

Activities

Activities 2021-2022

All the departments conducted Parent-Teacher Meeting through online and offline mode during the month of October, 2021 and discussed the performance of students.

An Awareness programme on “Pandemics and More” was organized on 26.11.2021 through online mode and live streamed in the youtube link. Dr.Diego Edwin M.D., Clinical Microbiologist and Infection Control Expert, Associate Professor, SRM Medical College, Trichy and Consultant Microbiologist in ABC Multispeciality Hospital, Trichy was the resource person. He highlighted on the significance of vaccination and shed light on the key preventive measures and supportive personal care remedies to overcome the pandemic and other viral diseases.

Parent Teacher meeting was conducted through offline mode for the even semester by all the departments during the month of April 2022.

A special meeting on “Build Your Mental Health” was organized online on 27.04.2022. Dr.N.Jeyashanthi, Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Velalar College of Engineering and Technology was the guest speaker. The teachers, parents and students enthusiastically participated to build their mental health during this crisis period of pandemic.
