Smoking Free Campus

To strengthen our commitment in promoting a healthy lifestyle for the campus community, Vellalar College for Women, Erode, will be designated 100 percent Smoke and Tobacco free with effect from January 2019. The new effort builds upon the smoke-free policy that was successfully implemented, banning the use of all smoke-producing tobacco products on campus.

This policy applies to any individual on Campus Property, including but not limited to students, faculty, staff, other employees, contractors, subcontractors, volunteers, visitors and members of the public, and is applicable 24/7 round the clock. It will include all forms of tobacco, including but not limited to chewing tobacco, snuff, and dissolvable forms such as orbs and strips. Vaping devices such as e-cigarettes will also be prohibited. The banned locations will include all campus-owned property – indoors and outdoors – as well as private vehicles parked on campus owned property.

Policy : As of January 1, 2019, smoking is prohibited on all campus property, both indoors and outdoors, and in institution-owned vehicles and in privately-owned vehicles parked on campus property. The advertising, sale, or free sampling of tobacco products is also prohibited on campus property. Littering the remains of tobacco products or any other related waste product on campus property is further prohibited. No individual or campus unit subject to this policy may discriminate or retaliate against any person who makes a complaint of a violation of this policy or provides information concerning a violation of this policy.
