The centre was established during 2010-2011 under UGC XI PLAN MERGED SCHEME – EQUAL OPPORTUNITY CENTRE to provide guidance and counseling in academic, financial, social and psychological aspects in order to enhance the diversity within the campus.

NEED FOR THE COUNSELING SYSTEM

Youth are found to be disturbed and distracted by various psychological aspects like stress, anxiety, depression, inferiority complex, social expectations, academic & peer pressure, love affairs, relationship issues, health problems, suicidal attitude, financial problems, family problems etc.

INAUGURATION OF THE CENTRE:

The centre was inaugurated on 08-09-2010 by,

    • Rights for education of Girl Children

Activities Carried Out – Motivation Programme for Freshers on “Spread your Wings, Two day Faculty Programme on “Teaching Effectiveness Drives – A personality Focus, Logic and Creative Thinking, Guest Lectures on Stress management, Perception, Personality Development and Team Work , Mind Mapping, awareness programmes on water conservation, General counseling, Gender sensitization, programme for physically challenged, Personal counseling, family counseling are being conducted regularly.

OUTCOME OF THE COUNSELING CENTRE

  • Depression, academic and peer group pressure, suicidal attitude, love affairs, obsessive compulsive disorder (OBD), financial constraints, health problems and unpleasant incidents are the disturbing factors among the students. Regular and frequent counseling sessions have been undertaken.
  • Systematic and scientific methodology is used to find out the problems of the students by the counselor and the experts.
  • Psychological and emotional disturbances are reduced/ eliminated to a satisfactory level
  • Confidentiality and empathetic approach of the centre has been found to be highly supportive and beneficial to the students.
