About

Agriculture is the back bone of Indian economy as nearly 60% of the population of country depends on agriculture and contributes 23% to the GDP. Tenth Five year plan and National Agriculture policy document envisage a growth land of 4% in agriculture as against the average growth of less than 2% in the last 50 years. For sustained 4% growth in agriculture there is a need to improve productivity and to cut down on cost by improving efficiency.

There is an urgent necessity to provide a package of initiatives for transfer of technology, to promote investments in agriculture and to create favorable economic environment.

For transmitting the latest agriculture techniques to the farmers in field, they must be oriented to establish better relationship with bank, value addition, adoption of latest Post-harvest handling technology. Agriculture Business Training and Consultancy (ABC) is an appropriate and the most suitable strategy initiated in Vellalar College for Women in 2018.
